📖 Job 1:6 (KJV) Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.

✅ The Assumption: “Sons of God = Angels”

Many say Job 1:6 proves the “sons of God” are angels because they appear before the LORD. But here’s the key question: Does the Bible ever call angels “sons of God”? Let’s compare Scripture with Scripture.

1️⃣ No Angel Is Ever Called “Son of God”

📖 Hebrews 1:5 (KJV) For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?

The answer is None, the entire chapter of Hebrews 1 is written to prove Christ is superior to angels and part of that argument is this, “God never called an angel His Son” If angels were regularly called “sons of God,” this statement would make no sense.

📖 Psalms 2:7 (KJV) I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

This is prophetic of Christ not angels, So the question is who are the sons of God?

2️⃣ Who Are Called Sons of God in the Bible?

A. Adam

📖 Luke 3:38 (KJV) Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God.

Adam is called the son of God because he was directly created by Him.

B. Believers

📖 John 1:12 (KJV) But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

📖 Romans 8:14 (KJV) For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

📖 Galatians 3:26 (KJV) For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

In Scripture, “sons of God” refers to: Direct creation (Adam) and Regenerated believers, but never angels.

3️⃣ Theological Danger of Calling Angels “Sons of God”

Why does this matter?

Because:

It blurs the distinction between angels and redeemed humanity.
It weakens the doctrine of adoption.
It confuses the uniqueness of Christ as the Son of God.

📖 Hebrews 2:16 (KJV) For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.

Christ died for men not angels, we are elevated above angels through redemption.

📖 1 Corinthians 6:3 (KJV) Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?

If angels were sons in the same sense, this hierarchy would collapse.

📖 1 John 3:1 (KJV) Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

That title is precious, It belongs to the redeemed, not to angels.

4️⃣ So what are the angels?

📖 Psalms 148:2-5 (KJV) Praise ye him, all his angels: praise ye him, all his hosts. 3 Praise ye him, sun and moon: praise him, all ye stars of light. 4 Praise him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that be above the heavens. 5 Let them praise the name of the LORD: for he commanded, and they were created.

So:

They are not divine.
They are not sons in the redemptive sense.
They are creatures.

📖 Hebrews 1:14 (KJV) Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

This verse is crystal clear, Angels are:

Ministering spirits
Sent by God
For the benefit of believers

They:

They Deliver Messages

📖 Luke 1:26-30 (KJV) And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, 27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. 28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. 29 And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. 30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.

They Protect

📖 Psalms 91:11 (KJV) For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

They Strengthen

📖 Luke 22:43 (KJV) And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.

They Execute judgment

📖 2 Kings 19:35 (KJV) And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.
