The Spiritual Conditions of Wairoa
After being here for a week, we are beginning to understand the needs of the people and gain insight into their spiritual condition. One encouraging sign is that people are receptive to the gospel—some have even approached us with questions about our faith. So far, we haven’t had any negative encounters, but it’s still early days.
While many here are searching for God, we have also noticed the deep presence of long-established religious groups, including Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mormons, Catholics, Methodists, and Pentecostals. It’s surprising to see so many churches in a district of just 9,000 people. Despite their presence, it is said that less than half of the population actively practices religion or attends these churches.
This presents a great challenge for us. As 1 Timothy 6:12 reminds us:
“Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.”
Our mission is clear: we must share the truth of the gospel and help people break free from false teachings that have taken root over time. We know this will not be easy, but we trust in God’s plan and remain steadfast in our calling. With faith, perseverance, and His guidance, we believe we can make a lasting impact in Wairoa.
We are excited for what the future holds and are trusting in God’s plan as we continue this mission. Thank you for your prayers and support—may His name be glorified in all we do!
