A Triune God

🔷 Christianity is the only Religion that has the most unique God, as God is Omnipotent, omniscience, omnipresent, meaning that God is all powerful, all knowing and everywhere all at once who lives in eternity with no beginning and end? Now thats impossible to fathom all of God, and I remember Doctor Kent Hovind once said that people try to understand God but a God that can be comprehended by man is not God worthy of worship. Thats very true Gods power and infinite nature could never be fathomed by man, so in saying that we will not fully understand the Godhead nature of God, but we need to walk by faith and believe the Bible when talking about God and his nature as a triune being.

1️⃣ “In the beginning”

1. Genesis 1:1 — “In the beginning God created…”

• The Hebrew word for God here is “Elohim” a plural noun used with singular verbs.

• This is strange grammar pointing to a plurality within unity.

• Not proof alone, but a strong hint: one God, yet not solitary.

2. Genesis 1:2 — “And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.”

• Here’s the Holy Spirit explicitly present at creation.

• The Spirit is not an impersonal force, but active, hovering (Hebrew: rachaph like a bird brooding over her young).

3. Genesis 1:3 — “And God said, Let there be light…”

• God speaks and His Word creates.

• Later in John 1:1–3, we learn:

“In the beginning was the Word… and the Word was God… All things were made by Him.”

So who is this Word? It’s Jesus Christ the Son, active in creation.

4. Genesis 1:26 — “Let us make man in our image…”

• God speaks in plural form: “us” and “our”.

• Not to angels (they don’t create), this is God talking within Himself.

• This verse most clearly shows the plurality of persons within the one divine essence.

5. Genesis 3:22 — “Behold, the man is become as one of us…”

• Again, God uses plural pronouns consistent with Genesis 1:26.

In Isaiah 48:16, we see:

“…from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord God, and his Spirit, hath sent me.”

• Here we see three persons:

• “the Lord God” (the Father)

• “his Spirit” (the Holy Spirit)

• “me” — the Speaker, who is the Son (pre-incarnate Christ)

2️⃣ “Three that bear record in heaven”

📖 1 John 5:7 (KJV) For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

📌 This means that three distinct persons are united in perfect testimony (or witness). In Jewish law, three witnesses confirmed truth (Deuteronomy 19:15), and we will talk about this later, but these 3 are 1, meaning they are 3 separate persons yet one God, and a lot of people view this like 1 + 1 + 1 = 3 but we view this as 1 x 1 x 1 = 1 God is 3 separate 1s yet still = 1, either way its biblical the way God speaks about being one through unity, again I will prove this later on, but for an quick example Jesus said….

📖 John 17:21 (KJV) That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

📌 We will discuss this matter further how God uses this term “One”. I also want to note that in the modern bibles that don’t use the Textus Receptus manuscripts, these new modern bible versions take this verse completely out because it shows the deity of Jesus as the Word of God in the beginning with God, and Satan will do anything to make Jesus less than God because you cannot be saved if Jesus is a mere human, it means his sacrifice wasn’t perfect because only God is perfect so with that said, if you don’t believe that Jesus is one in God then you can’t be saved, If Jesus were just a human, He’d need a Savior Himself, but he is perfect yet without sin.

📖 1 Peter 1:19 — "But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish..."

📌 Only a sinless, divine sacrifice could fully satisfy God's justice.

📖 Isaiah 53:6 — "The Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all."

📌 Only God the Son, being infinite, could absorb the infinite penalty of sin.

📖 John 8:24 (KJV) — Jesus said:
“...if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.”

📌 “I AM” is the divine name (Exodus 3:14). Jesus is claiming deity and says if you don’t believe it, you’ll die in your sins, your not saved.

3️⃣ “Jesus and the Father have separate wills”

📖 Luke 22:42 (KJV) Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.”

📌Jesus clearly submits His will to the Father’s showing they are distinct in personal will.

  • Jesus isn’t pretending.

  • He really has a will distinct from the Father’s and He submits it.

  • That shows two wills, which equals two persons.

📖 John 6:38 (KJV) For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

4️⃣ Jesus prays to the Father

High Priestly Prayer

📖 John 17:1 (KJV) “These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come…”

  • Jesus isn’t praying to Himself. This shows communication between two divine persons.

Before Raising Lazarus

📖 John 11:41 (KJV) Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.

  • Or should we say “I thank myself that I heard myself” thats what oneness pentecostals believe?

On the Cross

📖 Matthew 27:46 — “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?”

  • Jesus is calling out to God the father (separate identity), he is not saying “myself, myself why have I forsaken myself?

📖 Luke 23:46 (KJV) And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.

  • Jesus isn’t saying “Into my own hands I commend my spirit? Thats nonsense.

5️⃣ Jesus calls the Father “greater than I”

📖 John 14:28 (KJV) “…for my Father is greater than I.”

📌This doesn’t deny Jesus’ divinity it speaks to His role in submission during His earthly mission. Still, it proves they’re not the same person. And again Jesus isn’t less then God the father it’s only because Jesus chose to be made lower as a human to fulfill the will of the Father, as the Bible said..

📖 Hebrews 2:9 (KJV) But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

📌 So this is why Jesus is called the Son of God because he is born in the flesh by the Holy Spirit, without a natural father, mother only to give him the body needed to execute the prophecies as mentioned…

📖 Matthew 1:20-23 (KJV) But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. 21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. 22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, 23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

📌 So we see here why Jesus was born of a women and why he is called Son, not only that Jesus has many names, like the “Word” & “son of man” and these names are just expressions of what he done, he was born in the flesh that technically made him Son, and he was a son of a man, but really he came from eternity.

📖 Micah 5:2 (KJV) But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

💭 This is a prophecy that God is talking about the Son, Jesus Christ, he was from everlasting. So again it’s not speaking about Jesus deity.

📖 Philippians 2:5-11 (KJV) Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. 9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

6️⃣ Jesus doesn’t know the day of His return

📖 Mark 13:32 (KJV) “But of that day and that hour knoweth no man… neither the Son, but the Father.”

📌Again, not a denial of divinity, but a clear distinction in roles and knowledge, while he is in human form.

7️⃣ Jesus sits at the right hand of the Father

📖 Mark 16:19 (KJV) “…he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.”

📌 You can’t sit at your own right hand. This is a clear image of two distinct persons yet one God.

8️⃣ The Father speaks from heaven while Jesus is on earth

Matthew 3:16–17 (KJV) “…the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending… and lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son…”

📌 The Father speaks, the Son is baptized, the Holy Spirit descends three distinct persons acting together.

9️⃣ Jesus says the Father bears witness of Him

📖 John 8:17–18 (KJV) “…the testimony of two men is true. I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father… beareth witness of me.”

• Jesus uses the legal requirement of two witnesses to show He and the Father are distinct persons.

📖 Deuteronomy 19:15 (KJV) One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.

📌 If Jesus was the same person as the father then he cannot have valid trial of truth, its like if I went to the court and said Chevi the preacher is one witness and I bring forth Chevi the Father of Beulah as the second witness? The court room will dismiss you as crazy and a delusional liar, God is 3 persons yet one God.

1️⃣0️⃣ Jesus says “I go to the Father”

📖 John 16:10 (KJV) “…because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more.”

📌You can’t “go to” yourself. This shows spatial/person distinction.

1️⃣1️⃣ Jesus says the Father loves Him and glorifies Him

📖 John 17:24 (KJV) “…for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.”

📌This proves relationship before creation the Father and Son existed in eternal relationship. Not only that it would be ridiculous to interpret this as “I loved myself before the creation of the world”? These are 2 separate persons.

1️⃣2️⃣ Husband and Wife

🔷 I believe that picture of a husband and wife illustrates the Godhead best yet still imperfect as there is no real illustration to represent an infinite God! But the Bible speaks about being one yet separate beings.

📖 Genesis 2:24 (KJV) Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

📌Two distinct persons, yet joined together in such deep unity that the Bible calls them one. Jesus, the Father and the Holy Spirit are one and the same.

💭 Just like the Son submits to the Father in function, a wife may submit to her husband but both are equal in value.

📖 Ephesians 5:22-24 (KJV) Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. 24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

📌 Just because a woman has to submit it doesn’t make her less of a person than the man, she is equal in value.

📖 Galatians 3:28 (KJV) There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

📌 Yet submission helps control and order, in anything we do, for example:

🔎 Work place

  • We have to submit to our managers and its a good thing when everyone is following through to the plan, a lot gets done, but have you seen a work place where there are too many Chiefs and not enough Indians? Its chaos. It’s better to obey and follow the leader so that everything will go smoother.

🔎 Sports

  • When we play sports there is usually one captain and others in different positions, but this doesn’t mean that the captain is of better value, the others chose to follow for the better of the team, because if they don’t follow then it can get messy, just like a husband and wife if both want to be leaders in the house it will cause divisions, thats a loss to a family and a time for Satan to creep in and destroy that family, same with Jesus and God the Father, Jesus follows because he loves God the father and wants what is best for humanity.

⏰ Conclusion

🔷 We have proven God to be 3 separate persons yet one God, as the 3 have different wills and roles, but will also need to understand what “one” means in the Bible as God mentions a husband and wife to be “one” yet they separate persons, and Jesus even said we will be one with him and God the Father! This is because we love God and submit to God for the same cause and purpose, just like a husband and wife, I hope and pray this is clear, its is over abundance of scripture proving on so many levels that God is a Triune God. Amen
